Greetings from Philadelphia! I’ve been here since Thursday filming live beauty segments for Manucurist Paris on QVC, and by the time you read this I’ll be heading back to Los Angeles. Over the past year, my trips here have become almost routine—monthly visits that once felt novel now feel strangely comforting. I’ve built a little rhythm with familiar hotels, favorite cafés, and a few shops that make each trip feel less like a whirlwind and more like a second home. (I’ll share my running list of Philly favorites in another post soon!)
Like so many of us right now, I feel caught in a liminal space—hovering between seasons and responsibilities. Spring is edging toward summer, semester grades are officially turned in, and though vacation is on the horizon, I still find myself working at full throttle. This in-between state shows up in my wardrobe, in my beauty bag, and even in my mindset—part ambition, part gentle reminder to rest.
Today’s post reflects exactly that mix: behind-the-scenes moments from my latest QVC shows, swatches of Westman Atelier’s new lip liners (yes, all of them), and a roundup of spring beauty sales that are too good to miss.
Behind the Scenes at QVC
This trip marked my fifth and sixth on-air shows for Manucurist Paris, a partnership that feels like such a natural fit. I only collaborate with brands I truly believe in, and Manucurist’s dedication to clean, sustainable nail care has made them a staple in my routine for over a year now. Sharing that passion live on air never gets old—it’s exciting, a little nerve-wracking, and always rewarding.
The QVC set has its own rhythm: the quiet moments in the green room where final touch-ups happen, the buzz of producers counting down in your earpiece, and the instant connection with viewers who tune in from their living rooms. I always make time to document the experience on Instagram, partly to preserve the memory and partly to bring you along with me.
What I Wore (and Loved) On-Air
While the spotlight was on nails, I know many of you are curious about the beauty lineup I rely on when the cameras are rolling. I gravitate toward products that deliver polish with staying power—nothing fussy, everything dependable. A few highlights:
- A light, luminous foundation that keeps skin looking fresh even under the heat of studio lights.
- A touch of cream blush for that just-back-from-a-walk flush.
- Neutral but defined eye makeup, because the cameras capture every detail.
- And, of course, a flattering lip color that doesn’t require constant checking between takes.
It’s a pared-down version of my usual routine, but one that photographs—and broadcasts—beautifully.
Westman Atelier Lip Liners: Swatches in the Wild
Between filming and grading final papers, I managed to carve out some time to test the new Westman Atelier lip liners, and they are absolutely worth a mention. I swatched every single shade, and I’m impressed by the thoughtful range. The formula strikes that ideal balance—creamy enough to glide on, but firm enough to define without smudging.
The color lineup spans versatile nudes, rich berries, and a few unexpected twists that keep things interesting. I’ll share detailed swatches and pairing suggestions in an upcoming beauty-focused post, but my early favorites are the universally flattering beige-pink and the deeper cocoa that doubles as a base for bolder looks.
The Sales I’m Shopping This Weekend
The other thing about this transitional time of year? Sales are everywhere. Retailers seem to sense that we’re in between seasons and use it as an excuse to tempt us with deals. While I’m not a “buy everything” kind of shopper, I do love honing in on pieces and products that I know I’ll use again and again.
A few categories on my radar right now:
- Wardrobe refreshers: breezy dresses and linen separates that bridge spring and summer.
- Beauty exclusives: limited-edition sets that offer real value, especially in skincare and haircare.
- Accessories: sunglasses, sandals, and bags that can transform the simplest outfit.
I’ll admit—I’m also bookmarking a few baby-related finds (more on that soon!) because those sales pop up quickly and disappear just as fast.
Life Lately
As if the QVC shows weren’t enough, the academic year is officially winding down. I wrapped up grading for seven classes (graduation is just around the corner!) and I’m preparing to teach two sections of online public speaking this summer. I love the process of helping students find and refine their authentic voices, and the online format opens the door for people who might not otherwise get the chance.
It’s a busy season, yes, but a fulfilling one—and I keep reminding myself to carve out rest along the way.
The Bottom Line
This moment between spring and summer feels like a balancing act: part work, part play, part reflection, part anticipation. My time in Philadelphia has reminded me how much joy comes from building routines in unfamiliar places, while the QVC experience continues to stretch me in ways I’m grateful for. Add in some new beauty discoveries and a few strategic sale finds, and it’s a full—but rewarding—season.
Thank you for following along on these behind-the-scenes adventures. I’ll be sharing more soon—everything from Philly favorites to detailed swatches—but for now, I hope this glimpse into the in-between inspires you to find joy in the transition, too.
