Nordstrom Anniversary Sale: Six Looks I’m Loving Right Now

After a restorative week in the desert (a story for another day!), I came home to a stack of Nordstrom Anniversary Sale orders waiting at my doorstep. As an Icon cardholder, I was able to shop the sale early, though this year I did all of my shopping online rather than in-store. Normally, I like the ritual of browsing racks and trying things on, but between travel and the pace of life lately, online was the way to go.

And honestly? I couldn’t be happier with the pieces I chose. With fall approaching and a season of working from home, Zoom meetings, and the occasional beauty industry event ahead, I focused on clothing that feels equal parts polished and comfortable. Today, I’m sharing six looks that I know will be staples in the months to come—along with a few toddler-approved favorites for Joey.

Look 1: Sporty and Sleek

This first look is all about streamlined comfort.

  • Spanx Workout Bra: I ordered a medium, and it’s a perfect fit for my 34B frame. It’s supportive, smooth under tops, and designed for activity—I’ve already tested it on a run.
  • Spanx Faux Leather Leggings: I’ve worn these for years, and they remain unmatched. This time, I sized up to a small for variety, and the fit is fantastic. They give a faux-leather look without the stiffness, while still slimming and breathable.
  • Neon Faux Shearling Bomber Jacket: A last-minute addition that turned out to be a winner. Roomy, cozy, and just a bit playful with the pop of neon at the zipper. I see myself living in this come crisp fall mornings.
  • Nike Air Max 270 Sneakers (Light Cream): My third pair in this style. They’re cloud-level comfortable, true to size (I wear a 7), and versatile enough to pair with leggings or dresses.

Look 2: Mother-Daughter Pattern Love

Coordinating with Joey is one of my favorite things, and this sale delivered pieces we can both enjoy.

  • BB Dakota Eldridge Shirt Jacket: A soft plaid in the prettiest blush tone. It’s thick enough to double as outerwear and long enough to wear with leggings. Easy, cozy, and effortlessly stylish.
  • Leopard Pullover (Joey’s): With ruffled sleeves and the softest fabric, Joey’s been reaching for this again and again.
  • Knit Jogger Pants (Joey’s): I sized up to a 3T for her so she has room to grow. They’re chic, practical, and perfect for busy toddler days.
  • Hunter Waterproof Leopard Boots (Joey’s): The minute we opened the box, Joey wanted them on. She’s a boot girl, and these pink leopard wellies are whimsical, sturdy, and toddler-proof.

Look 3: The Only Dress

Sometimes, you just need one standout dress.

  • Print Long Sleeve Dress (Black Betsy Rose Floral): Flowing rayon, forgiving cut, and a cheerful floral print that balances fun with sophistication. I ordered a medium, and the fit is easy and flattering. I also loved it enough to add the leopard version to my cart.
  • Steve Madden Issy Block Heel Slide (Clear): These have been my summer MVP. The clear straps mean they work with any outfit, and the under-$50 price point is a happy bonus.

Look 4: Professional with a Twist

A little more elevated, with a wink of playfulness.

  • Free People Turnt Bodysuit (Green): Dramatic, voluminous, and stunning in color. Definitely more elevated than my usual day-to-day, but it’s fun to have pieces that inspire.
  • True Body Bralette: Since the bodysuit is quite low-cut, I layered it with this bralette in tan. I also grabbed one in black, and they’re so comfortable that even my mom ordered two after seeing mine.
  • Eileen Fisher Tapered Ankle Pants: Simple, chic, and timeless. I sized down to a small since Eileen Fisher runs a little roomy. They remind me of something Audrey Hepburn might wear on a relaxed day at home—classic yet casual.
  • Steve Madden Issy Block Heel Slide (Clear): Versatility at its best; these sandals work across looks.

Look 5: Sweater Season

Fall wouldn’t be complete without a cozy cardigan.

  • Thread & Supply Cardigan Coat: A hybrid sweater-coat in a sophisticated beige, complete with roomy pockets and a relaxed collar. It’s the kind of piece you want to throw on for everything from errands to dinner.
  • True Body Bralette + Eileen Fisher Pants: Proof that base layers can be pretty—this bralette works perfectly with the tailored pants.
  • Nike Air Max 270 Sneakers (Light Cream): Again, these sneakers are my everyday anchor.
  • Peplum Hoodie (Joey’s): Golden, ruffled, and adorable—Joey looks like she was made for fall in this sweet little hoodie.

Look 6: Working from Home—Polished Comfort

For days when I want to feel “put together” without sacrificing comfort.

  • Topshop Double Breasted Blazer: I sized up for an oversized, slouchy fit, and it’s love. Neutral, well-tailored, and luxe enough to elevate joggers.
  • True Body Bralette: Again, this bralette wins—soft, flattering, and the perfect neutral tone.
  • Cozy Jogger Sweatpants: French terry softness, lightweight, and just the right drape. I ordered them in mocha and immediately added another color.
  • UGG Cozette Shearling Slide: Plush, cushiony, and ideal for long days on hard flooring. They feel indulgent yet practical.
  • Stem Organic Cotton Jumpsuit (Joey’s): Breathable, easy to move in, and irresistibly cute. Joey has it in two colors—highly recommend for little ones.

Final Thoughts

This year’s Nordstrom Anniversary Sale may have looked different—no in-store try-ons, no browsing racks—but it proved that a little thoughtful shopping can yield a wardrobe that feels both fresh and practical. From sporty leggings and sneakers to timeless trousers and cozy sweaters, I’ve found pieces that fit my lifestyle now: balancing work, motherhood, and a need for comfort with a desire for style.

And perhaps my favorite part? Watching Joey’s delight in her own new finds. Fashion really is more fun when shared.
